Italy after the World Cup defeat: Go Argentina!

After the defeat of the national team in the World Cup, Italy turns the page. The great dilemma now is this: what team to root for? For many Italians, it’s Argentina. Many people are asking us why we’re rooting for ARGENTINA! I’ll try to explain:
1) first of all, our disgraceful team is not easy to love or appreciate!
2) we can’t pretend that we should only feel like Italians when the national team plays and the Italian national anthem sounds! Italians should be Italians always: and we’re not when Bossi talks about governing us, when Marchionne proposes an unconstitutional, oppressive decree against Southern workers, without which the State would be paralysed!
When they steal the FAS1 funds for Southern Italy! When they spend a heap of money on celebrating solidarity while continuing to tell the story of the “The Resurgence,” and meanwhile hiding all the tragedies that these events brought to the South!
3) the Italian flag and this national team represent this, and, I say, we refuse to identify with it! If the South turns out to have equal dignity and the role within the nation that it’s due, recognizing the ill-gotten gains and telling the historic truth, there will be no remorse for identifying with this football squad! We're not rooting for Italy. What of it?
4) Maradona, who leads the Argentina team, has been the only one (in the world of football) to have given dignity, credit and restored pride to Napoli and the entire South! He understood and reclaimed these victories as redemption against the excessive power of the North!
5) Argentina received millions of emigrants (an effect of this swindling unification), and among them, a sea of southerners (just look at the last names of their players!)
Therefore, if you please, we are enthusiastically in favor of offering support and directing our hearty football fandom towards this squad, whose imagination in the game, roots of its inhabitants and players, and charisma of their leader –always near and dear to Napoletani– makes it closer to our own passion for sports.
